a theme: exhaustion
I go into my organization for 3/4 of a day and I come home. “I’m exhausted.” I have pizza with a handful of Romanians and I think, “I’m exhausted.” David and I go to the grocery store or the piata and I come home: “I’m exhausted.” The phone rings and it’s our landlord who speaks Romanian at lightning speeds: “I’m exhausted.” I cook something simple and afterwards, “I’m exhausted.”
Exhaustion is a theme and it has been since PST. It amazes me on a daily basis how much energy everything takes at this step in our integration process — from simple tasks to more complex ones, particularly since we’re on our own. It’s got to be a combination of the newness of every aspect of our situation, the language that overwhelms me regularly, and making decisions in ambiguity.
Fortunately weekends are a time to recuperate from that exhaustion.
