in the kitchen: smantano, unde esti?

Oh iubito mea, smantano, unde esti?  Oh my love, sour cream, where are you?  Seriously, there is NO sour cream in our entire town.  NONE!  There’s yogurt, sweet cream, whipping cream, but NO SOUR CREAM!!   And we have baked potatoes on the menu tomorrow night. What are we to do??

My guess is that with our Romanian neighbors coming off their Advent fast and adding dairy back into their diet, there was a mad dash on sour cream. And with over a week of holidays, there haven’t been any deliveries to the grocers.  So not a huge supply and a hell of a lot of demand.  Basic economy, I know, but it sure stinks for us and our baked potato fantasy!
