on the road: budapest overview

Good news: our hotel has a computer with internet.  Bad news: we cannot upload pictures.

Regardless, we wanted to post a quick update about our few days in Budapest — both to give y’all a taste and so that we don’t forget some of the good stuff.

Riding to Budapest with a big Hungarian guy named Zoltan; wandering the countryside picking up people in his minivan until we had enough to make it worth the trip.
Touching the tail of a lemur at the zoo; dinner at Paprikas; strolling by the Danube in the evening — all with the company of Courtney and Clay.
Meandering Pest — the Opera House, the Central Market, multiple bridges, St. Stephen’s Basilica (walking to the tip top); Parliament
An evening walk on Margaret Island serenaded by a Freddy Mercury cover band singing “We will, we will, rock you” in Hungarian.
Watching strange German game shows — League of Balls was my favorite.
Eating plenty of ice cream.
Returning to Pest — Mass at St. Stephen’s with a fantastic organ postlude; lunch at the Hummus Bar.
Exploring Buda — Matthias Church, Royal Palace, ruins of medieval church and Jewish quarter, Turul, fantastic views at the Bastion, and the Vienna Gate.

And with that, we close our time in Budapest to head for Vienna.
Plenty of pictures and anecdotes to follow.
