in the kitchen: peanut butter goodness
We miss peanut butter. The only candy we really crave is Reese Peanut Butter Cups. So when I saw this blog post over on the Smitten Kitchen for buckeyes, I knew I had to try it.
Mine aren’t as beautiful as Deb’s, but for a teeny tiny Romanian kitchen where we “make it work,” we’re pleased as punch. They are rich, tasty balls of goodness with a strong peanut butter and dark chocolate flavor. The only substitute I made in her recipe was using Rice Krispies (mailed to us by our friend Marie) in place of graham crackers since graham crackers don’t really exist here.
Definitely, when you’ve got a hankering for that PB/chocolate combo — these are tasty!!
PS: I apologize that I did not take a picture of my sweet rigged double boiler — it was a wonder in ingenuity and safety.

November 8, 2010I saw those on SK too, but since L and I are still working through our bag of Halloween candy (only two kids came to the door,) we’ve still got Reese’s cups. And you actually bake, not me!!! Great to see that you can improvise and make yummy goodies. Gretel misses peanut butter too. I’m pretty sure someone out there is missing a huge exporting deal – real bacon and peanut butter!

November 8, 2010We actually found bacon in our teeny tiny town and have had joy ever since. But yes, the lack of good peanut butter is a travesty and a business opportunity. As is a good burrito joint.
Don’t you just love SK? The pictures are beautiful and everything is so tasty!!
