at home: a new addition

We miss our cats. A lot.  Moving to Romania, they got left behind, living with my dear mother.  Mom has always had a menagerie and she makes animals (and insects , remember the preying mantis, Mom?) live forever.  So we know Lott and Fizzy are in good hands. But we still miss their antics, their quirks, their personalities.

We weren’t sure whether we had room in our hearts for another kitty.  We told ourselves that we couldn’t replace Lott and Fizzy with Romanian cats.  The other day, we happened upon a kitty living in a hole in our bloc apartment.  She’s at that awkward stage where her ears are too big for her body.  She purrs constantly. She has great eye-liner.  We gathered our self-control and told ourselves, “If she’s around for a few days, we’ll see.”  It’s been a few days and now she’s named and in our apartment.  She’s an addition, in no way a replacement.

And so starts the adventures of learning the words neuter, ear-mites, and de-worm in Romanian.
