on the job: the rollercoaster

This is a graph of the rollercoaster I’m on, according to Peace Corps research.  We’re getting close to month 6 at which point, we should start feeling more adjusted to life here.  Like we have integrated.  Like we know what we’re doing.  The integration part, I’m feeling good about. Language acquisition is bopping along just fine. We have people in town who we can call if we need something.  We know where to get things we need and how to get there for the most part.  The knowing what I’m supposed to be doing here — both in a practical daily way and in a more cosmic meaningfulness way — I’m less confident in.  But I’m trying to let my “vulnerability” make me more open to where I can fit in and be productive both at my organization and in my community. We shall see how the lead-up to month 6 proceeds.
