on the job: the internets and anniversaries

January 24, 2011 was the 20th anniversary of Peace Corps in Romania.  In 1991, the Romanian government and the Peace Corps officially signed paperwork to bring Volunteers here.  Twenty years later, here we are. . .

To celebrate this milestone  and the 50th anniversary of Peace Corps worldwide, David and I redesigned Peace Corps Romania’s website and created a blog for our 20/50 anniversary projects.  So needless to say, we’ve been hard at work. . .

A little bit about our process. . . It was super cool to work with David — we’ve got a good creative vibe going.  There were moments where being colleagues and partners led to some “heated discussions,” but for the most part it was productive and positive.  I learned more about web design and languages and I gained an even better appreciation for the work and detail that goes into getting a website up and going.  People say, “Make a website”  or “Make this pretty” and it’s in no way, shape, or form that easily accomplished.  David deserves a big pat on the back as a thank you for his hard work and a huge smooch for his patience with me and my umpteen questions (I call dibs on being the smoocher!).

To toot our own horn a bit and to celebrate meeting a deadline, we wanted to share our results — the logo we created (with inspiration from a design by Zac Lis, artist extraordinaire) and the website and blog we got up and running. We still have info to add, move, spiffy-up, but here’s the basics.  We’re pretty proud.
